The American Christian Academy Patriots (6-2, 5-0) defeated West Blocton Tigers (4-4, 3-2) to end the Tigers win streak of four wins. The final score of 27-12 keeps the Patriots region record perfect at 5-0.

Both teams came out with both defenses able to stop the other teams rushing attack. The first quarter ended with both teams scoreless.

The Patriots started the second quarter at their own 42-yard line. The Patriots with couple of passes including a 23-yard pass from converted receiver to quarterback, senior Carson Sute, to senior wide receiver Chance Henderson. After catching the pass West Blocton helped the Patriots get closer to the end zone by getting flagged for a face mask penalty.

After the facemask penalty the Patriots ran the ball two more times before Sute broke free for a 17-yard rushing touchdown to score the first points of the night and to put the patriots up 7-0.

After the touchdown run by Sute, the Patriots kicked off to the Tigers where junior Kevin Montgomery took the return all the way to the Patriots 24-yard line before being tackled.

The Tigers drove the ball down to the goal line when a mishandled snap ended in the hands of the Patriots defense on the 9-yard line.

ACA capitalized off the fumble recovery on the first play on offense when senior running back Kolby Preskitt got the ball and ran it all the way to the endzone for a 91-yard rushing touchdown, to put the Patriots up 14-0.

The Tigers answered back after the 91-yard rushing touchdown. The Tigers started its next drive at their own 44-yard line and drove the ball to the Patriots 13-yard line. At the 13-yard line, sophomore running back Nate Barron broke free for a 13-yard rushing touchdown but the extra point was no good, so the Tigers found themselves down 14-6.

The Patriots answered right back. ACA found themselves at the Tigers 8-yard line after a 31-yard rushing by Sute and a pass interference called on the Tigers. At the 8-yard line junior wide receiver Davis Dare ran the ball in for a 8-yard touchdown to help the Patriots go up 21-6 into halftime.

After halftime both teams came out scoreless in the third quarter, with both offenses unable to get the ball moving.

With their first drive of the fourth quarter the Patriots drove the ball down to the Tigers 17-yard line where they forced to attempt a 34-yard field, but junior linebacker Seth Isbell was able to block the field goal and senior Hunter Brand picked up ball and returned the blocked field goal to the Patriots 6-yard line.

The Tigers capitalized of the block field goal and and after a couple of plays, Barron ran the ball in for a 3-yard rushing touchdown, for his second touchdown of the night. The Tigers did not make the extra point and found themselves down 21-12.

After a couple of drives the Patriots, with the help of Sute started to move the ball down the field. At the Tigers 15-yard line, Sute threw the ball towards the end zone where the ball was tipped up in the air by a West Blocton defender into the hands of junior tight end Caleb Morrison for a Patriots touchdown. The Patriots did not make the extra point but put the game out of reach with little time left in the fourth. The touchdown put the Patriots up 27-12.

The Tigers could not answer back and their four game winning streak came to an end.

"When you play a region championship team like that, you got to sit up here and play, you can't make mistakes," head coach for West Blocton, DreMail King said of the loss.

"I feel like they dug down deep, it was a tough game, coach King does such a great job and I'm proud of our guys for fighting," head coach for ACA, Cody Martin said about his teams win.

West Blocton heads on the road for another region game at Hale County next week. ACA heads back home where they host the Sipsey Valley Bears.
