Alabama Native Demarcus Joiner Honored as Black History Maker
92.9 WTUG, Praise 93.3, and 105.1 The Block in partnership with Robinson Automotive, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Delta Phi Lambda Chapter, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Eta Xi Omega Chapter, along with Lanier Automotive, Bryant Bank, and Dixie Motors in Northport, we are proud to salute, Demarcus Joiner.
Demarcus Joiner is currently a senior majoring in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Pre-Law from Roanoke, AL. He currently serves as the 109th Student Government Association (SGA) President of The University of Alabama. With a passion for advocacy and service, Demarcus has previously served as an SGA Senator for the College of Engineering and Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
During his tenure as the inaugural Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Demarcus led the inception of multiple campus initiatives such as the Miss Unique UA Pageant, DEI Certificate Program, and International Karaoke just to name a few.
He has made it his mission to not only proven himself as an outstanding leader through SGA, but numerous other campus involvement like Collegiate 100, Afro-American Gospel Choir, National Society of Black Engineers, LSAMP, Mentor UP, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., where he has served on the regional board as the Alabama Assistant District Director and national board Interim Assistant Regional Vice President.
Demarcus proudly advocates for diverse student experiences and inclusion, using his platform to educate students on the campus about the resources available while serving as an instrument for change and voice for those silenced. Grounded in faith, Joiner credits his impactful journey and achievements to God, his parents, and mentors. With hopes of practicing law, Demarcus believes that he can be the catalyst for change on campus, in the community, and around the nation.
