Alabama Point Guard Trademarks His Own Logo For NIL Opportunities
The Alabama Crimson Tide has already seen several of its athletes take advantage of the new NCAA regulations surrounding Name, Image and Likeness. Most notably the Tide has seen its quarterback Bryce Young orchestrate lucrative deals, pitcher Montana Fouts sign on with Cameo and several Alabama athletes joined Barstool Sports.
Alabama freshman JD Davison point guard has yet to shoot a basketball for the Crimson Tide but he has already made several moves to profit off his Name, Image and Likeness.
Davison has already arranged a partnership with Moneyball Sportswear and with PSD Underwear and now, to maximize his visibility, Davison has created a logo and filed trademark with his attorney Darren Heitner.
Davison's logo shows the 5-star prospect flying through the air, presumably just before bringing an arena to its knees, for one of his signature monster dunks. Will Davison use this logo and his absurd talent to create the next big basketball brand?
"JD's been as good or better than advertised, he's going to be really good. He's got great feel for the game. He can really pass, when you get him on a college roster with really good talent all around him where he's got four great options to pass to, he can really make reads," said Alabama Head Coach Nate Oats this summer. "I think he's shown he's definitely a point guard. I think he's a guy who's going to play in the NBA as a point guard and you can see it in practice, I've been really impressed with him."
The guard is the crown jewel of Alabama's No. 12 ranked 2021 recruiting class. Davison was Alabama's Mr. Basketball for two consecutive years and was named a McDonald's All-American. His arrival gives the Tide three McDonald's All-Americans on the 2021 roster, Davison, Nimari Burnett and Jahvon Quinerly.
