For the second season in a row the Tide has been voted the preseason favorite to win the SEC.

Alabama received nine out of a possible 13 first-place votes in the 2021 SEC Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll. (Last season they received 11 first-place votes)

LSU was awarded two votes. Followed by Florida and Tennessee with one first-place vote each.

Alabama won its first-place spot in the coaches' poll with a total of 138 points. LSU, just less than 10 points away, came in second with 129. Florida a close third with 125. Tennessee took fourth with 101. And Kentucky finished off the top five with 97 points and zero first place votes.

Points for the poll were awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12 basis. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

The Tide has 17 returning players this season. Seven of them are the seniors from the 2020 season who chose to use their NCAA eligibility to return to play this year. 

In addition to the returning players, the team also has five new faces on its roster. Bailey Dowling, Jaala Torrence, KJ Haney, Alex Salter and Kat Grill will be joining the Tide as they start their season in just 14 days.

Make sure to tune in, however you chose to do so, when the Tide starts their schedule facing off against Colorado State and Texas just one day after the official start date for SEC Softball.

The 2021 SEC Softball Tournament is set for May 12-15 three months after the Tide begins rolling. It will take place right here at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
