CDC Warns Alabama About Applesauce Pouches Containing Lead
After being a father these past four years, I've learned just how far I'd go to protect my kids when it comes to things I let them consume.
Shopping for groceries and giving them certain foods while we're on the go is more in depth than ever before. This is why I love giving my kids fruits and vegetables.
The good thing is, my children both love eating fruits and vegetables like broccoli, carrots, strawberries and apples.
With them loving apples the most, this news of children in Alabama becoming sick due to this apple related food is scary to say the least.
According to WHNT News, Doctors in Alabama are being put on alert for possible cases of lead poisoning in children.
They reported that at least 22 toddlers in 14 states have been sickened by lead linked to tainted pouches of cinnamon apple puree and applesauce.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that after testing multiple batches of the product, results indicated the products contained extremely high levels of lead.
WanaBana, Schnucks, and Weis have initiated voluntary recalls of certain lots of the following products:
- WanaBana brand apple cinnamon fruit purée pouches
- Schnucks brand cinnamon applesauce pouches
