Eli Gold, the iconic voice of the Alabama Crimson Tide, has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not call Saturday's matchup between Bama and the Arkansas Razorbacks, Gold announced Thursday evening.

Gold shared the news on his weekly Hey, Coach! radio show Thursday, where he said it will break a streak of more than 400 called games.

In a conversation with Alabama head coach Nick Saban, Gold said both he and his wife have tested positive for the virus, but both were feeling well Thursday night.

Saban, who battled the virus himself last month, wished Gold a speedy recovery.

Sources familiar with the situation said veteran broadcaster Chris Stewart will call the Alabama game Saturday in Gold's place.

Gold has been the voice of the Tide's radio broadcasts since 1988.
