Former Alabama quarterback Blake Sims made his debut for Spokane Shock of the Indoor Football League Saturday night.

Sims took his first in-game snaps since January 2015 in the College Football Playoff. He accounted for 163 total yards, scored four touchdowns and led the Shock to a 46-35 win over the Sioux Falls Storm.

"I got tears in my eyes that I'm holding back right now, I'm just happy. " Sims said.

After leaving Alabama, Sims signed with the Toronto Argonauts and Saskatchewan Roughriders but did not appear in any games. Sims would then continue his professional career in Australia with the Wollongong Devils of the National Gridiron League. He had brief stints with Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2016 and 2017. Sims then signed with the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Alliance Football in 2019.

"I haven't played in so long," Sims said, "but I have a great family. They love me, and they've been behind me for so long. And I got to thank God. God is great, ain't he? God is so good to put me with a great O-line like this and a great, great coach like coach (Billy) Back. The defense did a wonderful job today."

Sims played for the Crimson Tide from 2010-2014. In his lone season as the starter in 2014, Sims threw for 3,487 yards, accounted for 35 touchdowns and earned Second-team All-SEC honors. He led Alabama to win over Missouri in the SEC Championship and a berth in the first ever College Football Playoff.

The Storm will play the Tuscan Sugar Skulls in Spokane, Washington next Saturday, July 17th.
