Former Alabama quarterback Blake Sims led the Spokane Shock to a second consecutive win over the weekend. The Shock defeated the Tucson Sugar Skulls 45-34 on Saturday in front of a crowd of 4,150 fans at Spokane Arena.

Sims made his Indoor Football League debut last Saturday in 46-35 victory over the Sioux Falls Storm. The Gainesville, Georgia native is taking his first in-game snaps since January 2015.

Sims threw two touchdown passes on Saturday. He connected with Keyvan Rudd from nine yards out halfway through the first quarter for Spokane’s first score of the game. Early in the fourth quarter, Sims would find Kamerin Solomon to give the Shock an 11-point lead.

Sims finished the game with 61 yards rushing on eight attempts. Through the air, he was 10-of-19 with two touchdowns. Through two games as a starter, Sims has accounted for six total touchdowns.

Since leaving Tuscaloosa, Sims has bounced around a number of different places in the professional rank. He has been on the rosters in the National Football League, Canadian Football League, Australia's National Gridiron League and Alliance American Football, but never appeared in any regular season games.

"I haven't played in so long," Sims said after the victory last week, "but I have a great family. They love me, and they've been behind me for so long."

Spokane will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico next on Saturday to square off with the Duke City Gladiators for the first time in franchise history. The game is set to kickoff at 4:05 p.m.
