Customers of a local business will have to wait a little longer for its doors to reopen as one of its owners prepares to undergo heart surgery.

The Pruitt family announced that the business is postponing its planned reopening from Thursday, Sept. 10, until tentatively Thursday, Sept. 17.

The business initially announced that it would close beginning Aug. 22 with plans to reopen Sept. 10. However, the family said the additional closure is necessary as co-owner James Pruitt prepares to undergo heart valve replacement surgery.

The family said it wants to use the additional time away from the business to focus on Pruitt’s surgery and recovery.

“One of our owners, James Pruitt, will be undergoing heart valve replacement surgery, and we feel it’s important for our family to take this time to focus on James, his surgery, and his recovery,” the family said in its reopening update.

The business has not announced a firm reopening date, describing Sept. 17 as tentative and saying it hopes to welcome customers back on that date.

In its announcement, the Pruitt family thanked customers for their continued patience, support and understanding as they navigate the unexpected circumstances.

The family also asked members of the community to keep Pruitt, his family and his medical team in their prayers ahead of the procedure and during his recovery.

The latest announcement extends what was originally expected to be a closure of less than three weeks. If the new tentative date holds, the business will have been closed for nearly four weeks before reopening.

Customers should watch the business’s social media pages for any additional updates or confirmation of the Sept. 17 reopening date.
