COVID-19 Update: ADPH Reports 291 Confirmed Cases and 8 Deaths in Tuscaloosa County
The latest data from the Alabama Department of Public Health shows eight confirmed COVID-19 deaths within Tuscaloosa County alone. Statewide, 440 Alabamians have died as a result of the novel Coronavirus.
The ADPH reports 80.5% of those confirmed deaths occurred in those aged 65 or older, 16.8% of deaths were among those between the ages of 50 and 64. 55.5% of confirmed deaths occurred in males and 44.5% of confirmed cases occurred in females.
The ADPH reports 291 confirmed cases of the novel Coronavirus in Tuscaloosa County and 10,468 confirmed cases statewide.
The majority of confirmed cases (39.16%) is among Alabamians between the ages of 25 and 49. 24.91% of cases are among those between the ages of 50 to 64, and 24.86% of confirmed cases are among those over the age of 65. It should be noted that the latest data shows an increase in confirmed cases among children and young adults: 9.92% of confirmed cases are among those between the ages of 5 and 24.
Since March 13th, 1,302 Alabamians have required hospitalizations. 475 of those needed treatment in an Intensive Care Unit, and 284 required a ventilator for treatment as well.
