We're approaching the holiday season in West Alabama. With plenty of families in need, this Tuscaloosa business is lending a helping hand.

All month long, C&J Resources, LLC will be collecting food donations from community members. After collecting donations during the month of October, they will then distribute free food boxes to those in need on Saturday, November 20th.

Canned foods, water, juice, cereal, noodles, snacks, and other non-perishable food items are needed.

C&J Resources offers tutoring in all subjects for grades Pre-K-12, as well as homework assistance and more in Tuscaloosa. The food giveaway came about because "I wanted to give back to the community," said Owner Chante Rice.

"Also to provide the students I tutor an opportunity to do community service and know what is it to give back to the community for those who may be less fortunate."

The community and area businesses are on board for this amazing event. It's even sponsored by Buffalo Rock.

With a goal of giving away at least 30 food boxes, Chante Rice spoke about how it feels to organize such a needed event in Tuscaloosa.

"It's very important to me to serve the community because I have met individuals and had family members who just need food to feed themselves and family. Giving back to my local community has always been my mission."

Donations can be dropped off at C&J Resources, LLC at 2615 6th Street STE 8 in Tuscaloosa. If you'd like more information on this event and how to donate or pick up for call 205-523-1656.
