Free Virtual Resources To Keep Kids Busy During COVID-19

COVID-19 has interrupted our lives, that’s for sure.  However, there is still plenty to do while practicing social distancing during this time for children and adults.  Here is a list of “great finds” I have located while doing some searching for “things to do” for kids.  I’ll update this blog as I find more activities to pass on.  And if you feel like I have missed something feel free to let me know on my Facebook page at @MaryKRadio

Activities

This list of “100 Activities To Do At Home During School Closures” from Entertain Kids On A Dime, makes me wish I was home.  The activities sound like so much fun, like making a laundry basket ski ball, making soap clouds, glow in the dark bowling, the floor is lava game, and much more.  Click here to check out all the activities.

Doodle Every Weekday

Have you ever just sat and just did a doodle?  It’s great for kids as well as adults.  Believe it or not, it’s a great stress buster.   According to the Washingtonian, "Kids’ author Mo Willems is here to make your weekdays a little better for a while: Starting today, he’ll release a new “Lunch Doodle” video each weekday at 1 PM.”  Click here for the link for Lunch Doddles.

Netflix

The website, “We Are Teachers,” offers a great list of “30 Great Educational Netflix Shows.”  Click here for the list.  The website even breaks down Netflix shows for kids that are elementary school age, middle school, and high school

Immersive Museum Exhibits

I am a bit of an art lover.  I ran across a great list of immersive museum exhibits provided by PBSClick here to check out noteworthy finds from Smithsonian Institute, Dolores Olmedo Museum, Turquoise Museum, and more.

Virtual Field Trips

The Wow Travel Agency offers a great resource, “Let’s Travel Together.”  Click here to check it out.  You download a virtual passport, passport stamps, and take a virtual field trip.  You can virtually visit places like Ireland, Jamaica, NYC, and more.

Websites

Click here for a list provided by Adventures In Family Hood with virtual websites.

Fun Brain is a website for K-8th grade.  They have a menu that offers games, reading, videos, playgrounds, and a math zone.  I like the website because it gives you samples of books before you buy them or get them from the library. Click here, to check it out.

National Geographic Kids offers a menu of games, videos, animals, explore, and subscribe.  Listen, I’m an adult but always find myself checking out the animal section, especially the great white sharks. Click here, to check it all it has to offer.
