HBCU Alumni United Encourages Donations Through Cares Program
HBCUs (Historically Black College and University) are the lifeline for many students, parents, and alumni in the African American community. There is just something about the whole HBCU experience. Many HBCU’s thrive on donations from alumni giving, the community, grants, and more. There is a need during this time to help our HBCUs financially, and the Facebook group HBCU Alumni United recognizes that need. There are 102 nationally accredited HBCU institutions, and there will be a giving effort for each institution. The Facebook Group HBCU Alumni United has created a giving program called HBCU Alumni United Cares to encourage donations. As a proud graduate of Bethune-Cookman University; I remind you of the Last Will & Testament from our founder Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, where she tells us all that “Our children must never lose their zeal for building a better world. They must not be discouraged from aspiring toward greatness, for they are to be the leaders of tomorrow.”
The fundraising effort will run from June 1, 2020, until December 31, 2020. On Saturday Nights, the HBCU Alumni United Facebook page will spin the wheel of the eligible HBCUs, and the wheel will randomly select four schools. Throughout the week, the HBCU Alumni United Facebook page will promote each school, history of the HBCU, and the Facebook Donation link for that school.
HBCU Alumni United Cares institutions for the week of June 1, 2020, will be:
Elizabeth City State University > To donate, click here
Florida A&M University > To donate, click here
North Carolina A&T State University > To donate, click here
