Summer is prime time for camps for kids. Last year unfortunately most summer camps had to be put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the state of Alabama has concluded its "Safer at Home" order it is time to get back to the summer camps that we have grown to love.

Tuscaloosa Academy head basketball coach Barry Sanderson is putting on his traditional summer basketball camp this summer. The camp will have two sessions this summer, one in June and one in July and is available for those as young as 6-years old and as old as rising juniors in high school.

"We missed a lot of things last year. Camps in the summer are big for kids, whatever kind of camp it is, so I look forward to being able to get the kids in there I think they're eager to get out. Kids don't want to sit around, they want to be active so I think it will be great so if they don't come to my camp, I suggest you go to any camp here in the Alabama area," said T.A. head coach Sanderson.

"I've been running camps in this area for about six or seven years," said Sanderson. "I look forward to getting kids from all ages, all different skill levels and just teaching them how to play the game the right way, how to handle the basketball the right way and how to shoot the ball the right way but to meet a lot of new friends as well so we look forward to getting kids in the gym this summer."

Sanderson has coached at the college level at the University of South Carolina, Wake Forest, Lipscomb University, East Carolina University and the University of Arkansas Little Rock. He was also a graduate assistant at the University of Georgia and Texas A&M, he served as a student assistant at Alabama under his legendary father, Wimp Sanderson.

Camp dates will be June 14-17 and July 19-22, those interested in participating can send an email to Barry at barrysanderson@hotmail.com to receive the sign-up information.
