Alabama Recognizes June as Strong Families Month
According to a press release from the Office of the Governor of the State of Alabama, Governor Kay Ivey has officially proclaimed June 2026 as Strong Families Month in Alabama.
The proclamation recognizes the role families play in shaping children, strengthening communities and building a brighter future for the state.
“Strong families build a strong Alabama,” Ivey said. “Homes led by stable parents, a father and a mother, provide children with the structure and discipline necessary to succeed.”
The governor's announcement comes as Alabama prepares to celebrate Father's Day on June 21. The proclamation specifically highlights the impact fathers have in providing leadership, support and guidance for their children and families.
According to the press release, Alabama leaders point to research showing that children who grow up in stable home environments are more likely to graduate from high school, achieve economic stability and avoid challenges such as substance abuse.
State officials also noted that students with engaged parents are more likely to attend school regularly, meet academic benchmarks and graduate on time.

Governor Ivey said supporting Alabama families remains a priority for her administration. The governor highlighted efforts such as expanded educational opportunities through the CHOOSE Act, investments in early childhood education and improvements within Alabama's foster care and child welfare systems.
The proclamation serves as a reminder of the important role parents, guardians and family members play in helping children succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
According to the press release, Strong Families Month is intended to encourage Alabama families to invest time in strengthening relationships, supporting children and building stable foundations for future generations.
