American Christian Academy Hires Austin Grammer as its 11th Head Football Coach on Thursday.
On Thursday, December 5th, 2024, American Christian Academy's Head of School, Stephen Hooks, informed Tuscaloosa News that Austin Grammer will become the program's 11th head football coach.
This move comes shortly after Cody Martin, ACA's former head football coach, resigned in November after four seasons in command of the Patriots, with his final season in 2024 ending with a disastrous 3-7 record.
With Grammer playing for the Patriots from 2009 to 2012 and contributing to successful teams that advanced far in the postseason, ACA didn't have to search far for their next head coach. Grammer "Brings a wealth of academic acumen along with a love for Christ that issues forth in a discipling heart," according to Hooks, who also stated that ACA's new head football coach is "an amazing person and educator."
Grammer was ACA's principal in 2024 and the Patriots' interim head basketball coach in the 2023-2024 season, leading them to a runner-up finish in the class 4A. Grammer, ACA's 11th head football coach, was a two-sport athlete in college. He played baseball and football for Middle Tennessee State University before transferring to West Alabama in his last year of eligibility.
ACA's new head football coach spoke to Tuscaloosa News about the new position, and Grammer underlined how much this moment meant to him, with the Patriots head coach noting, "Kind of a complete circle moment to be able to walk into those shoes. That means a lot to me." Grammer went on to discuss what ACA means to him and how football has shaped the path for him in life, saying "I feel like ACA is kind of woven into the fabric of who I am and how I was raised," and adding "I think just because football carried me into college, that program specifically means the world to me."
Following their first losing season since 2016 and their first season without a postseason bid since 2014, Grammer and the Patriots are determined to turn things around in the football program.
