On Tuesday the Detroit Lions traded former first round pick Jeff Okudah to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a fifth round pick. The Falcons got some much needed help at cornerback, but for the Lions a logistical change is apparently coming.

Former Alabama wide receiver and 2022 first round pick Jameson Williams took to Twitter after the trade was announced and campaigned to change his uniform number back to number 1. Okudah was previously wearing number 1 and Williams chose the number 9 for his rookie season.

It now appears that his rookie season will be set apart not just because of his performance in the Motor City, but by the collectors items that will be the number 9 jerseys.

Williams only played in six games as a rookie, due to tearing his ACL in the 2022 national championship game. He hauled in one catch for 41 yards and a touchdown and additionally took a carry from the backfield for a 40 yard rush.

The Lions will expect more from Williams in his second year in the NFL and maybe the number change will do just the trick.

It remains to be seen if Williams will be granted the number change, but with Okudah's departure to the Falcons there's no one standing in his way.
