Southern Living released “The 20 Best New Restaurants In The South,” according to their editors.
How did Southern Living narrow down this hit list of 20 locations? The “restaurants were picked by the editors of Southern Living, who report, research, and visit restaurants across the South.”

These new foodie hot spots have representation in the following states:
Florida
Georgia
Louisiana
Mississippi
North Carolina
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Virginia
Two restaurants from Alabama also scored a spot on the coveted list.
Armour House
Birmingham, Alabama
Armour House said they are a “sophisticated neighborhood brasserie and raw bar in Birmingham, Alabama, where fresh local cuisine meets refined elegance.”
Located in historic downtown Birmingham, this new restaurant has an interesting twist: it is housed in the former Armour & Company meatpacking building.
Southern Living said it is “A well-appointed raw bar sets the stage for the restaurant's real star: dry-aged steaks with plenty of decadent sides and accoutrements.”
Plus, for a bonus, they have the Pogo Cocktail Bar, where you can “discover expertly crafted cocktails served in an inviting atmosphere where classic charm meets modern sophistication.”

Birmingham, Alabama
This new Alabama restaurant is dedicated to seafood and is known for its “extensive oyster-focused raw bar, ice cold martinis, and creative dishes like its Cobia Schnitzel and Swordfish Reuben sandwich,” said Southern Living.
Bayonet said that they draw “inspiration from culinary traditions across the country." Their "menu includes both familiar raw bar classics and bold, unexpected creations.”
