Alabama: Cicada’s Are Safe To Eat & Delicious Too!
Check out the recipe below.
We will see lots of Cicada’s in Alabama this summer. And we will hear them too. Trillions of Cicada’s will appear in the USA, per the experts.
Cicadas crawl out from underground every 13 or 17 years. They make shrill, ear piercing sounds as loud as jet engines. You will soon hear them. You won’t be able to ignore them. Their sound seems to be most prevalent around sundown.
Here's a short taste of what you can expect to hear...
It has been since 1803 since the 13 year cicadas and the 17 year cicadas have come out at the same time. A double cicada whammy. Are you ready?
Trillions of cicadas will awaken. After their long “nap” they will obviously have to urinate badly. Scientists warn we could be hit by a strong cicada urine stream when we least expect it. As if their shrill cry is not enough.
The cicadas will urinate, mate, and return underground. What a life.
The good Lord certainly had a sense of humor when he created the cicada.
And now we are told you can eat them!
Yummy. Yummy.
The Cicada is a delicacy in some countries. You can pan fry or toast them. Some people put them in gumbo, tacos, or pizzas. Or stir fried over rice.
The Food Network reports Cicadas are extra crunchy.
We are warned to clean the Cicadas. Handle them like you prepare chicken. Do not try and catch them yourself. And do not eat them raw. Buy them from a vendor. What? Will they have them at Piggly Wiggly?
