Monday Update: Tropical Storm Idalia, Impact on Alabama
Here is the up-to-date information on the West Alabama impact of tropical storm Idalia.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham reported that they are continuing to watch Idalia, "which will move into the eastern Gulf of Mexico as a Hurricane by Tuesday."
The forecast predicts that Idalia will be pushed to the east, and "chance of any significant impacts" on the central Alabama area is decreasing.
However, NWS in Birmingham still noted that rain chances "could increase by Wednesday" across southeast counties due to the proximity of the storm. The winds are expected to be higher, but remain under the criteria for a Wind Advisory.
James Spann reported via Facebook that storm could lead to "dangerous rip currents" Tuesday and Wenesday in the Alabama Gulf Coast.
