Javion Cohen Opens Up on Personal Mental Health Struggles
Crimson Tide offensive lineman Javion Cohen took to Instagram this week to share a heartfelt message regarding his own personal mental health struggles. Cohen revealed in the post that he spent the last month at Herren Wellness facility in rehabilitation, but is ready to tackle life with a new perspective.
"For the past month I have been in rehabilitation for mental heath reasons," Cohen wrote, "The pressure we feel as athletes is insurmountable and can be too much at times."
"Herren Wellness has taught me so many things about myself and life that I'm eternally grateful for (...) This has been an absolute blessing from god and I'm completely sure it will be for others too. Seek the help you need and do not be afraid to open up about your struggles."
Herren Wellness is a recovery and rehabilitation center in Seekonk, MA that has partnered with Alabama previously to help its student athletes. Earlier this year, former Tide offensive lineman Dayne Shor shared about his time at the facility before his transfer to UCONN.

Cohen joined the Crimson Tide in 2020 as a four-star prospect out of Central Phenix City High School. As a freshman, the 6-foot-4, 304 lb. lineman was named a member of the SEC All-Freshman team after appearing in five games.
Last season, Cohen's sophomore year, he took over as the starting left guard opposite Emil Ekiyor and played in all but one of Alabama's games, paving the way for the nation's sixth ranked scoring offense.
Cohen looks to be the starter again heading into this fall, and is projected by many to be one of the top guard prospects in next year's NFL Draft.
Now, with a clear mind, he is ready to take on a new season with full force.
