Go ahead, grab a blanket or some pop-up chairs and get ready for Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra. The free event will be the first and final live event of their season and should last a little over an hour without intermission. It will feature a chamber orchestra performing classical and popular favorites. It’s FREE and open to the public.

The family-friendly event also features Kim Scott, who is amazing and a contemporary jazz superstar. She is absolutely stunning and completely magical on the piccolo and flute. According to her Instagram, she will be “performing Vivaldi’s Piccolo Concerto in C!” Her 2019 album, “Free to Be,” charted #1 in 2019.

The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra asks that you “please follow all protocols as set by the City of Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, and the State of Alabama.  Their Facebook page also offers answers to frequently asked questions about this Sunday’s event:

 

Should I bring my own chairs?

Yes! Bring your chairs and blankets but leave your pop-up tents at home as they obstruct the view of the stage.

Are we allowed to bring snacks?

Yes. Patrons are responsible for disposing of their own trash. Government Plaza is also located in the Downtown Entertainment District, so you may purchase alcoholic beverages to go from nearby participating establishments and bring them onto the plaza. Alcoholic beverages from home are not allowed.

Is parking available?

Free parking is available in the Intermodal Facility Parking Deck located right next to Government Plaza.
