Masks Will Be Required In Public In Jefferson County

This afternoon it was announced that it will be mandatory for those in Jefferson County to wear face masks while in public in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to WBMA, “The Jefferson County Health Department on Friday announced that face coverings will be mandatory for people visiting public places starting Monday, June 29 at 5:00 p.m.” This rule goes into place for two weeks for everyone over the age of two years old. Also, noted by WBMA, Jefferson County health officials, cited surging case numbers and said that “Jefferson County continues to experience widespread community spread of COVID-19. Jefferson County officials said that they believe masks are the best option to control the spread.”

Be sure that you are keeping yourself safe from the spread of the coronavirus. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus.” The CDC also encourages us to “Wash your hands often, avoid close contact, cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face covering when around others, cover coughs and sneezes, clean and disinfect, and to monitor your health.”
