According to my family and friends, I love to tell people what to do and when. However, they don’t complain when I organize various outings for my family and friends. They love it. I have a stack of thank you cards proving it.

I’m sharing my “2 days seize the city” trips to help you out on weekend getaways, so you don’t spend half your time trying to figure out what to do.

Plus, toss in an affordable Airbnb, you can have a trip to remember. Email me if you want me to do a rundown of one of your favorite cities.

Now we focus on Montgomery, Alabama, the capital city of Alabama. Lots to do, you can travel there many times. Here is a quick 2 day rundown for you.

Saturday Morning Arrive in Montgomery, Alabama

Enjoy breakfast at Cahawba House. You can find this amazing spot at 31 South Court Street where “Saturday and Sunday Breakfast All Day from 8 am until 2 pm.” The Momma’s Breakfast Bowl is incredible.

Next Stop: Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA)

I would budget 2 hours at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. It is one of the oldest fine arts museums in Alabama. Be sure to stop at the Blount Cultural Park as well.

Quick Lunch

Chris’ Hot Dogs is a must-stop for a quick lunch. This spot has been offering great dogs since 1917. Be sure to get two orders of onion rings; it’s not greedy; they are that good.

Dose of History

Then be sure to stop by the SPLC Civil Rights Memorial and budget about 1-2 hours. If you are there in the dusk and evening hours, the outside will host lighting. “The memorial is accessible 24 hours a day.”

Check-In Time

Around this time, it would be great to check into your hotel accommodations or Airbnb. Get settled, rest up, and chill until the evening time.

I’ve shared this awesome and charming Montgomery, Alabama Historic Garden District Cottage. And the best part is that it is affordable.

Evening Adventure

Enjoy an evening in the Alley Entertainment District. This section has tons of unique restaurants, a variety of bars, and lots of people watching.

Sunday

The best bet is to sleep in late, check out of your accommodations, and grab lunch at Wintzell’s Oyster House. The chargrilled oysters are the best.

More Adventures

After lunch, stop by the Dexter Parsonage Museum and the EJI Legacy Museum and Memorial.

Best Photo Opportunity

The best place to take a Montgomery, Alabama selfie is in front of the Court Square Fountain. It’s rumored that you toss pennies into the fountain for your wishes since the fountain features a statue of Hebe, the Goddess of Youth.
