Tuscaloosa Secures $3.4 Million State Grant for Road Improvements
The City of Tuscaloosa is set to see major road improvements after receiving a significant boost from the Alabama Department of Transportation.
ALDOT has awarded the city an Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation & Improvement Program II, known as ATRIP II, grant totaling $3,468,500. The funding includes $2 million from the state through ATRIP II and a local match of $1,468,500.

City leaders say the money will be used to reconstruct Julia Tutwiler Drive and make key improvements to Campus Drive, two heavily traveled corridors that serve residents, commuters and visitors daily.
The ATRIP II program was created to improve and rehabilitate transportation infrastructure connected to Alabama’s state maintained highway system. The goal is simple: increase public safety while supporting long term economic growth.
Projects like this are designed to address aging roadways, improve traffic flow and strengthen infrastructure that supports business development and neighborhood connectivity.
For Tuscaloosa, this investment means smoother travel, safer conditions and continued growth along two important routes.
