New Amphitheater Approved To Be Built In Birmingham By 2025
Alabama will soon have a new location to hold concerts. It's been announced that Birmingham will be home to a new 9,000-seat amphitheater.
The 30th Mayor of Birmingham Randall Woodfin took to social media to make the announcement after the venue was approved.
"By summer of 2025, this new venue will be hosting its first concerts, breathing new life into our community which has been blighted by the former Carraway Hospital property for far too long," Woodfin stated on Instagram
"Today, the City of Birmingham approved funding for our city’s new 9,000 seat amphitheater. Rising from the former Carraway Hospital site, The Star development and this amphitheater are a symbol of revitalization and progress."
The Carraway Hospital has been closed since October 31, 2008, after 100 years in business according to Abandoned Southeast.
Mayor Randall Woodfin also announced a new family fun center in Birmingham that will include a skating rink, jump park, e-sports center, bowling alley, food court, and more.
The center will be housed at CrossPlex Village and construction on the family fun center is set to begin this year. The target completion date is set for 2024.
