No Summer 2020 Sports in Alabama High Schools
Though it was hoped upon, it's just not gonna happen. It's now official: The Alabama High School Athletic Association has announced there will be no summer sports competitions for 2020.
This is just one of the latest in the string of effects of the COVID-19 outbreak. There have been numerous long-standing businesses that have announced complete closures, as local economies reopen.
However, safety remains a concern. So, the Alabama High School Athletics Association is doing its part to make sure all players and coaches as well as spectators and other participants remain healthy.
Sports play a huge part in the state's economy. While college sports have the greatest impact, high school sports take on a significant role as well. Parents who'd normally prepare for practices, the purchasing of gear, and the scheduling of games now have a while longer before all of that is necessary.
