One Of The Strangest Feelings Ever Is A COVID-19 Nasal Swab

I didn’t think it would happen, but I got this message “you may have been exposed to COVID-19.”  My initial reaction was complete SHOCK.  Then that went to being SHOOK.  I’m not going to lie; I was anxious about the news.  Seriously, I have been doing my best to help flatten the COVID-19 curve in Alabama.  I’ve been following all the various guidelines and just trying to make smart decisions for myself and for the respect of others.  I’ve been practicing social distancing the best I can, wearing a mask in public, washing my hand frequently, staying at home, cleaning the surfaces I touch often, and the list goes on and on.

The actual COVID-19 test – well, it was strange.  I already set myself up for failure because people I know told me it felt like someone was grabbing your brain.  [Side note, I need new friends]  I will say that the folks that administered the test were super kind and helpful.  I guess I had a scared look on my face.  And the nurse was so compassionate; she took her time with me.  I know they had many people waiting to be tested just like me, but they were super patient with me, which made me feel better about the whole ordeal.  There were two people, and they were giving me the rundown of the information, but I’ll be honest, I don’t remember anything because all I could look at was the nasal swab, which seemed to be about a six-inch nasal swab.  Inside my nose, it felt much longer.  [I know, I’m so full of drama] There was pressure, but it wasn’t particularly painful, just a bizarre feeling, simply put – strange.  I did end up with a headache after the test.  Also, I had an odd feeling in my nose.  The best way to explain the feeling is this scenario; have you ever been to the beach in the ocean, then out of the blue, a wave slams into your face, and you get ocean water up your nose and mouth?  That’s what I felt like.  After the test, I had a facetime call with the Doctor, he asked me a series of questions, gave me some advice, and then expressed to me that I need to self-quarantine until my test results come back.
