Currently, the National Weather Service in Birmingham has most of our coverage areas under a “Hazardous Weather Outlook,” which means that “severe thunderstorms are possible today through 9 pm this evening across Central Alabama. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out.”
We are monitoring the system affecting today and closely watching Wednesday as well. It would be best if you didn’t let your guard down for today. The National Weather Service in Birmingham does note that “overall the tornado threat should diminish by early afternoon. Localized flash flooding also a possibility south of I-20 today.”
We recognize that many of our residents travel throughout the state. There is a Flash Flood Warning issued for parts of Cullman County until 8:45 am.
