Ryan Lolley Leaving Gordo for Northridge
Long-time Gordo Green Wave head coach Ryan Lolley has accepted a new coaching position with the Northridge Jaguars, inheriting a program from Mike Vickery, who left in late March to take over as coach at Pelham.
Per a Tweet from Northridge principal, Dr. J. Tygar Evans, Lolley was approved by the Tuscaloosa Board of Education on Tuesday evening.
Lolley spent 20 years at Gordo and nine as head coach, compiling a 99-18 record and taking home six region championships in his time with the Green Wave. In 2021, despite some lofty expectations entering the year, Lolley and the Green Wave were bounced in the second round of the playoffs by the eventual runner-up Oneonta, finishing with a 9-3 record.
Speaking on his time with the Green Wave while on The Gary Harris Show, Lolley said, "First of all, the time at Gordo for the last 20 years has been special to me. I worked with a great superintendent in Jamie Chapman and great administration with Mark Capps, and great coaches," Lolley continued, "At the end of the day though, the kids are what has been the most special thing that made this job so much fun."
Now, the accomplished coach takes over a Northridge program who went 7-4 the past two seasons and saw two first round playoff exits.
"I'm very excited for the opportunity to go to Northridge," Lolley said, "I think it's a special place. I don't think it's broken at all. I'm excited for us to put our stamp on it and make it better than it's ever been."
