In an electrifying home opener, Stillman College’s volleyball team clinched its first victory since 2015, defeating Miles College 3-1 at Birthright Alumni Hall. The crowd roared as "Match Point, Stillman" echoed through the gym, signaling the end of a long-awaited triumph for the Tigers.

Head coach Theresa Berry-Franks, in her first season with Stillman, was thrilled with the team's performance. “It was a phenomenal night,” she said. “The fan turnout was incredible, and the team finally came together. We’ve overcome a lot of mental hurdles in recent games, and tonight they showcased their true potential. I’m extremely proud of both the players and our supporters.”

The Tigers' victory is their first on the court since a 3-0 win over Miles College on October 31, 2015. Although Stillman did receive a forfeit win during the 2022 season, this marks their first live-match win since the program’s revival from a six-year hiatus.

The match saw a dramatic shift in momentum. Despite losing the first set 25-18, Stillman rallied back in the second set, overcoming a late deficit thanks to a series of Miles College errors and key kills by Aeraeonna Manuel. Erin Nelson sealed the set with an ace, leveling the match.

The Tigers surged ahead in the third set, finishing with a decisive 25-20 victory, and dominated the fourth set 25-14. Five different players contributed kills, with Paige Eason and Erin Nelson each delivering multiple service aces.

Stillman’s balanced attack was led by Manuel with seven kills, while Raine Patterson, Katelyn Lawson, and Ava Cameron each added six. Erin Nelson and Kelis Conely provided significant support with 16 and 14 assists, respectively.

Setting new program records for points (57), kills (37), assists (25), and service aces (14) in the NAIA era, the Tigers are gearing up for their next challenge. This weekend, they head to Nashville for a tri-match at Fisk University, facing the Fisk Bulldogs and Brescia University.

With this win, Stillman College has ignited hopes for a promising season ahead.
