Student creativity and innovation will be on full display as young inventors from across Alabama gather for a major statewide competition.

Invention Convention Alabama is set for Saturday, April 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Auburn University’s Academic Classroom and Laboratory Complex. The free event is open to the public and marks the first year the program has expanded to a full statewide competition.

According to the press release, more than 1,200 students have participated in this year’s program, with nearly 90 advancing to the state finals after competing in regional events across Alabama.

Those finalists will showcase over 60 unique inventions, each designed to solve real-world problems while highlighting creativity, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial skills.

The event focuses on helping students learn how to identify challenges, develop solutions, and present their ideas, all while building confidence and preparing for future opportunities.

A select group of participants will advance to the national competition, set for June at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, where they will compete alongside top student innovators from across the country.

Organizers are also seeking volunteers to serve as judges for the event. Individuals must be at least 18 years old, with no prior experience required to participate.

The convention is supported by Auburn IPX, iSTEM Alabama, and the I-STEM Connectory at Auburn University.
