Tuscaloosa's "Cap" Ray Allen is hosting the first of several benefit fundraisers Sunday that will be used to restore a Tuscaloosa County community.

The University of Alabama raised nearly $226 million dollars this fiscal year ending Sept. 30, setting a new record.

Downtown Tuscaloosa's Session Cocktails is raising awareness and funding for a different nonprofit organization each month, including Habitat for Humanity in September.

We know the feeling in Tuscaloosa and a relief effort began last week. A wonderful group of folks from SWJ Technology in Tuscaloosa wrote a great message on some packages of diapers heading to Kentucky.

The Tuscaloosa Alumnae Chapter of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated has been very active with its support in the West Alabama community. Their latest venture is hosting a charity kickball tournament.

Essentially, a diaper bank operates similarly to a food bank and receives monetary or diaper donations then distributes the collected items to families in need.

As the saying goes, “Christmas is the season of giving,” and that can be seen in the recent charity work by former Alabama lineman Jedrick Wills, Jr. Wills, now a core member of the playoff-hopeful Cleveland Browns made headlines across the country this week when he hosted his inaugural “Jedrick’s Winter Blast.”

Reese Witherspoon, a beloved Nashville native, is supporting teachers in her hometown through DonorsChoose, a nonprofit program that helps connect teachers with public donations.
