Tropical Depression 28 Could Enter Gulf Early Next Week
Updated October 24, 2020 at 5:30 pm
Tropical Depression 28 has formed this afternoon. It is moving north-northwest at 2 miles per hour. The expectation is that the storm will make a turn towards the west-northwest. Also, it is projected to pick up speed as well. The prediction is that it will become a tropical storm soon (maybe even Sunday.)

As we continue to monitor the tropics, there is an area of low pressure becoming more organized. This system we are observing is southwest of Grand Cayman Island. The National Hurricane Center has the formation chance at 90% over the next 48 hours and five days.
The big question is … will there be any impacts to Alabama or the Coastline?
At this time, it is too early to tell if the system would impact Alabama or the coastline. “Environmental conditions are conducive for further development as the system shifts north and northwest,” the National Hurricane Center said.
The current timeline thoughts would take the system near western Cuba on Monday. Then the system would travel by Tuesday to the southeastern Gulf.
Let’s continue to be safe during the remainder of hurricane season and the upcoming secondary tornado season. As always, I highly encourage you to have several ways to get weather information. Here is information on our free app.
