Let’s get right to it; what is the official cocktail of Tuscaloosa, Alabama? I want to know. I have some out-of-town guests coming soon, and I want to impress them by making the official “Tuscaloosa Cocktail.”

When I ask around, people say either the “Yellowhammer” from Galette’s and the “Nicodemus” from Nick’s in the Sticks. Both are VERY good drinks from legendary establishments. But, which one is the official drink of Tuscaloosa?

In sipping the Yellowhammer, I don’t think anyone knows the official recipe. Rum has to in the base of this iconic drink. According to Delish, “Gallette’s sells 4,000-5.000 at every University of Alabama home game.” The recipe Delish posted includes a mix of:

2 oz. vodka

2 oz. rum

1 oz. amaretto

4 oz. orange juice

7 oz. pineapple juice

1 handful ice

Another Alabama fan favorite is the Nicodemus. This is another secret mystery recipe for this bright red concoction. I adore this drink, but I know that I can’t have but one. (I’m a lightweight). There are tons of Pinterest recipes that most call for fruit punch, along with a bevy of various liquors.

What do you think? Is it the “Yellowhammer,” “Nicodemus,” or another local favorite? Please let me know your thoughts. Are there other drinks that make the cut to become Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s Official Cocktail?
