Tuscaloosa Native & His Wife Die From COVID-19 While Holding Hands
This has to be one of the saddest things I've seen so far during the Coronavirus pandemic. A Mississippi couple died of the Coronavirus while holding each other's hands. According to their obituary Jerry Austin Williamson, born in Tuscaloosa, and his wife Frances Jewel Bond Williamson both passed away at age 72 from the virus.
Frances was a Mississippi native and Jerry was born in Tuscaloosa "with Alabama Crimson Tide blood and remained a lifelong, loyal fan." Jerry retired from the U.S. Navy and Frances was a retired Phlebotomist. They were married for more than 50 years.
A private service will be held via livestream on Monday April 6, 2020. The family plans to invite the public to a memorial service at a later date.
