Tuscaloosa Parents Honor Infant Loss During Wave Of Light Event
There is an alarming amount of parents in West Alabama and the United States who have lost their babies as a result of miscarriage, stillbirth, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
On October 15th, a group of parents and community members in Tuscaloosa joined in the national effort to honor those babies who were lost in the wave of light event.
International Wave of light is in remembrance and honor of those babies lost by miscarriage, stillbirth or SIDS, said Trendle Samuel, Black Warrior Community Action Team member who participated in the Tuscaloosa remembrance event.

"We have a lot of people in the community who have experienced a loss in this way, Samuel said.
"It gives them an opportunity to come together and share their stories and light a candle in remembrance of their little one that was lost."
There were mothers who attended the event who shared their journey with infant loss and encouraged others in attendance through their journey.
Jasmine Cleveland who experienced four losses shared her thoughts on the importance of the event in Tuscaloosa,
"This event meant everything to me because pregnancy and infant loss awareness is not spread enough so I was so excited and grateful that this event was hosted because it is much needed for our community for the hurting mothers and fathers."
Cleveland's experience with infant loss pushed her to start an organization to assist others through their journey as they experience infant loss called Revive: Restoring Mothers of Angel babies.
Cleveland says she wants to be there for women as someone who has been through loss and knows what it feels like to go through that grieving process.
Trendle Samuel spoke on the need for more assistance when it comes to those dealing with infant loss in West Alabama and says she's available to assist those wanting to create a support group. You can reach her at Trendle.Samuel@adph.state.al.us.
