Future Uncertain for Two Tuscaloosa Restaurants Owned by Same Company

Two Tuscaloosa restaurants owned by the same parent company were closed this week and it's unclear if either will ever reopen their doors.

Readers of the Thread submitted a tip this weekend that something seemed amiss at the Peach Pit, a "true scratch kitchen" that opened in Midtown Village across from the now-closed Iguana Grill in 2019.

A site visit Monday found the restaurant's doors closed and locked. A notice from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office dated July 21st was taped to the glass, advising owners that they need to pick up important legal papers from the agency as soon as possible.

The Facebook page for the restaurant has been deleted, a publicly listed phone number for Peach Pit in Tuscaloosa is no longer functional and their Google business listing indicates the restaurant is permanently closed.

Still, an agent for Midtown's managers at Crawford Square Real Estate Advisors said Tuesday that it was too early to say if Peach Pit would ever re-open and for now, patrons should consider the closing temporary.

The Peach Pit franchise is owned and operated by Buss Brands, a Georgia-based company that also controls Atlanta's Little 5 Pizza and a third brand, the French Market & Tavern.

Little 5 came to Tuscaloosa last year, taking over the long-term home of Little Italy Pizzeria in the University Town Center on the Strip.

Like Peach Pit, Little 5 was listed as permanently closed in Google searches Tuesday. Their listed phone number has also been disconnected and the restaurant is closed to customers.
