Tuscaloosa Tuesday: Plan Releases for Community Development Programs, Alcohol Licenses, and More

Each week, the governing bodies in the City of Tuscaloosa hold meetings to discuss municipal business. Before the entire council convenes, various committees meet to discuss certain topics.

The following are a few of the topics to be discussed today.

From the Finance Committee Meeting Agenda:

• Authorizing the Office of Community and Neighborhood Services to advertise a Summary of the City of Tuscaloosa’s Proposed Five-Year Consolidated Plan for Community Planning and Development Programs, Years 2020-2024, and One Year Action Plan for the 2020 Community Development Block Grant, the HOME Program, and Other HUD Grant Programs
• Adopting the City’s Five-Year Consolidated Plan for Community Planning and Development Programs for Program Years 2020-2024 and the Action Plan for Program Year 2020 for the Community Development Block Grant Program, the HOME Program, and Other HUD Grant Programs
• Authorize the Office of Community and Neighborhood Services to Submit the 2020 City of Tuscaloosa Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice to HUD and Authorize the Mayor to Execute All Certifications and Documents Required in Relation to the Submission of this Report 

From the Council Administration and Policy Committee Meeting Agenda:

• Mask ordinance extension
• City Council and Mayor compensation for terms starting May 2021

Other items of particular public interest include the following:

• Approving the ABC application of DC Social LLC for an alcohol license at Druid City Social; 301 Greensboro Avenue; 35401
• Approving the ABC application of Shrimp Basket Restaurants LLC for an alcohol license at the Shrimp Basket; 3429 McFarland Blvd. E.; 35405:
• Introducing Zoning Amendment No. 1431 to rezone approximately 0.9 acres located at 1520 44th Avenue south of 1 Stillman Boulevard and north of 1600 44th Avenue from ML to BGO.
