Alabama Football Hauls in Top JUCO Linebacker in 2023 Class
The Alabama Football program has picked up its third 2023 commitment in three days after JUCO linebacker Justin Jefferson announced he will be joining the Crimson Tide via social media.
Jefferson, shares the namesake of former LSU and current Minnesota Viking Justin Jefferson but plays linebacker for Pearl River Community College in Mississippi. He stands 6-foot-3, 210 pounds but according to several outlets he's up to 220 pounds.
As a freshman at PRCC he accumulated 53 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and three sacks and according to several outlets he runs a 4.39 40-yard dash. Jefferson has compiled his PRCC highlights on Hudl.
Jefferson hails out of Bartlett High School in Tennessee, and reportedly recorded 53 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and three sacks in his senior season.
The linebacker chose the Crimson Tide over Texas A&M, Florida, Ole Miss among several other offers. Defensive coordinator Pete Golding furthers his reputation as a strong recruiter as he was the lead staff member on Jefferson's case.
"I think Coach Golding and I are going to get along really well," he said to Andrew Bone of BamaInsider after his first visit to Tuscaloosa. “I really like his style of coaching. He has produced a lot of guys. I can see myself getting coached and developed under him."
Jefferson became the first inside linebacker to commit to Alabama's 2023 class and is the eighth commitment of the current class.
"Oh yeah, he had a great time at Alabama," Pearl River head coach Seth Smith told TiderInsider after his initial visit. "He's a very gifted football player and a gifted human being. He's been a great young man for us and he's probably even better as a player."
Jefferson is set to graduate from PRCC in December and will likely enroll at Alabama in January.
Alabama is picking up steam on the recruiting trail after seeing Brayson Hubbard and Tony Mitchell commit to the Tide on Sunday. Alabama currently sits with the No. 22 ranked recruiting class according to 247Sports.
