Since 2009, the Alabama Crimson Tide is 7-0 against the Florida Gators. They've lost just one game to Florida during the Nick Saban era. It was in 2008, his second year as coach of the Tide. Since then, the Tide has dominated in matchups between the two. To get ready for Alabama heading down to "The Swamp" to take on the Gators on Saturday, here is a recap of just how dominant they have been playing Florida since Saban took the reigns for the Tide in 2007.

December 6, 2008

Florida 31, Alabama 20

In Saban's second year as coach, he took a no. 1 Alabama team to the SEC Championship to face No. 2 Florida. It looked good for Alabama as they led 20-17 with touchdowns from both running backs Glen Coffee and Mark Ingram at the end of the third quarter, but Tim Tebow led the Gators to victory in the fourth quarter where they scored 14 unanswered points.

December 5, 2009

Alabama 32, Florida 13

In this SEC Championship rematch of No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Alabama, quarterback Greg McElroy and running back Mark Ingram led the charge for Alabama as they got their revenge and the SEC title.

Four touchdowns by the players previously mentioned, eight points by kicker Leigh Tiffin, and a great performance by the defense to hold back Tebow gave the Tide a bid to the national title game that year where they would win Saban's first national championship with Alabama. This game also produced one of the most famous sports images, Tim Tebow crying on the bench, after the tough loss in his final game at Florida on national television as the scoreboard boasted Alabama's win.

October 2, 2010

Alabama 31, Florida 6

This game was all Alabama as the Tide held the Florida Gators to just two field goals at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Ingram shined once again scoring two of Bama's touchdowns and linebacker CJ Mosley returned an interception for a touchdown to push the No. 1 Tide past No. 7 Gators.

October 1, 2011

Alabama 38, Florida 10

No. 3 Alabama took their first trip to the Swamp since 2006 to take on a No. 12 Florida. Rushing was what gave the Tide the W in this game, with four rushing touchdowns from running backs Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy and quarterback AJ McCarron being the difference in the game. The Tide defense held the Florida offense scoreless after the first quarter and eliminated Florida's running game which was highly valued coming into the matchup.

September 20, 2014

Alabama 42, Florida 21

No. 3 Alabama took on an unranked Florida in Bryant-Denny for the first time in almost three years. Florida looked good early, keeping up with Alabama until after they tied the game at the beginning of the third quarter. It was then that Alabama ran away with the game. Quarterback Blake Sims stole the show, throwing for 445 yards and four touchdowns, 201 yards of which were received by star wide receiver Amari Cooper. Cooper also received a 79-yard touchdown pass from Sims in the first quarter, and Kenyan Drake was at the other end of an 87-yard touchdown pass to put the Tide ahead early. It certainly didn't help the Gators that their quarterback Jeff Driskel was 9-of-28 passing with two interceptions.

December 5, 2015

Alabama 29, Florida 15

Another SEC Championship, another matchup between ranked Crimson Tide and Florida Gators teams, another SEC title win for Alabama. Soon-to-be Heisman Trophy-winning running back Derrick Henry ran for 189 yards in 44 carries and one touchdown as he passed Herschel Walker's record for rushing yards in a season and led the No. 2 Crimson Tide to victory over the No. 18 Gators. Quarterback Jake Coker completed 18 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns. A safety early in the game from Florida gave Alabama it's first lead of the night and they didn't lose it as they secured their second straight SEC title on their way to claiming Saban's fourth national title with the team.

December 3, 2016

Alabama 54, Florida 16

Back in Atlanta searching for a third consecutive SEC title, the No.1 Crimson Tide soared past the overmatched No. 15 Florida Gators. An interception-turned touchdown by safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a blocked punt returned for another TD by running back Josh Jacobs put Alabama ahead early in the first quarter along with a field goal. It was easy going after that for quarterback Jalen Hurts and his offense. The defense in this game got overlooked because of the big performance by the offense, but they had three interceptions in this ballgame and shut out the Gators in the second half, which allowed the Bama offense to keep rolling.

December 19, 2020

Alabama 52, Florida 46

After a four-year wait, it was time for another SEC Championship matchup for the No.1 Alabama Crimson Tide against the No. 7 Florida Gators. This game was an offensive battle through and through with both quarterbacks, Alabama's Mac Jones and Florida's Kyle Trask, throwing for over 400 yards. Jones passed for just ten more yards and two more touchdowns than Trask and Bama running back Najee Harris rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns to push the Tide ahead in this shoot-out. The Florida offense fought hard but in the end, Trask was sacked as he tried to lead the Gators to a comeback and the clock ran out on the Gators playoff hopes while Alabama advanced on their way to winning Saban's seventh national title, his sixth at Alabama.

The recent history of Alabama and Florida's rivalry is full of heated games with a lot on the line, and with tomorrow being the beginning of SEC play for both teams, it'll be another big one. The Crimson Tide looks to go 8-0 against the Gators and continue to prove that they deserve the No.1 spot and we have all day coverage right here on Tide 100.9 FM beginning at 9:30 am with the pregame show!
