The Alabama Crimson Tide will apparently lose one of its best offensive players from the 2020-21 season. Junior guard Jaden Shackelford has put his name in the transfer portal according to WatchStadium.com. Shackelford led the Crimson Tide in scoring last year, averaged 14 points per game.

Shackelford is a former 4-star recruit out of the class in 2019 out of Hesperia, CA. Shackelford has earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2020 and Second Team All-Conference in 2021. He has scored 927 career points for the Crimson Tide in the last two seasons.

The 6-foot-3 guard notched a career-high 28-points as a freshman in both the Auburn and Arkansas games as a freshman and put in 27-points against Vanderbilt as a sophomore. Shackelford chose to come to Alabama over Kansas State and UNLV.

Alabama will still have several exciting guards should Shackelford ultimately decide to go to a different school. The Tide will lean on Jahvon Quinerly, JD Davison, Keon Ellis and Nimari Burnett for its backcourt scoring in 2021.

Shackelford entered the transfer portal just ahead of the July 1 deadline to declare, ensuring that he will be eligible should he find a new school to play for in 2021. He currently still has his name entered into the NBA Draft pool and the deadline to withdraw his name to return to college is July 7.
