Latest Updates on Alabama Basketball Players Draft Stock

At this point in the Alabama men's basketball season, the Tide's record stands at an underwhelming 16-9 with six games left in the regular season and they are a projected 5-Seed right now according to Joe Lunardi's latest bracketology. There is no doubt though that even with the team's struggles, they are loaded with NBA talent throughout the roster. Four potential Alabama players could be getting their name called by Adam Silver in the 2022 NBA Draft.

JD Davidson: Freshman Guard

The consensus first Alabama player that will most likely be off the board is the athletic freshman freak that is JD Davidson. Davidson's stats don't really pop out, averaging eight points, four assists and four boards a game, but the potential is definitely there for him. Everywhere he plays he seems to always be the most athletic player on the court, and if he can cut down on the turnovers and become a better shooter, he has a lot of potential to be a solid NBA player. According to Bleacher Report, they have Davidson as a top 20 pick right now, compared to him being a lottery pick before the college season started.

Jahvon Quinerly: Junior Guard

The Villanova transfer has been an immediate impact for the Crimson Tide. In his first season, he was the SEC tournament MVP having a very solid year. Even though his points per game has gone up this year, Quinerly has taken a step back in his shooting efficiency this season. He shot an impressive 43% from three last season, and dropped all the way down to a disappointing 25% from downtown. Despite these struggles, he has elite ball handling and guard skills and many mock drafts have him going as a mid to late 2nd round pick. It would not be surprising if he came back for his senior year next season.

Keon Ellis: Senior Forward

Ellis fits the new NBA style of 3-and-D perfectly. He can guard any position on the floor and play lock down defense on his opponents. He averages almost two steals a game and knocks down the three ball at a solid 35% rate. Ellis has snuck his way onto multiple draft boards this season from being an unknown the year prior. If he can continue to consistently knock down the three ball in NBA he will be a solid role player off the bench for a team that's willing to give him chance. According to Bleacher Report he is also a mid to late second round draft pick.

Jaden Shackelford: Junior Guard

The leading scorer for the Tide this season started off the season as one of the better scorers in the nation averaging 20+ a game. He has cooled off a bit but still averages an impressive 17 points per game. Shackelford still has a shot at First Team All SEC this season. Even though he is a great scorer he is a below average play maker and his shot selection is questionable at times. Shackelford has the option of coming back for his senior season and getting his draft stock higher, or he could commit to the NBA draft like he did last year and maybe be a late second round pick. Some mock drafts him going at the very end of round two, or being completely undrafted according to Bleacher Report and several other mock drafts.
