Tech Target describes a data breach as a cyber attack in which sensitive, confidential or otherwise protected data has been accessed or disclosed in an unauthorized fashion.

As previously reported by the Tuscaloosa Thread, the private ambulance service in Tuscaloosa may have given bad actors access to the records of more than 80,000 current and former patients.

Following the breach, a class action complaint was filed against NorthStar.

"Following a thorough analysis, the investigation determined that information contained in the affected files may have included patient-protected health information (PHI)," Mason LLP Attorney at Law said on their website concerning the class action complaint.

According to the settlement website, multiple lawsuits were brought on behalf of Facebook users who allege that Facebook (now Meta Platforms, Inc.) shared or otherwise made accessible to third parties user data and data about users’ friends without permission of the users whose data was shared, and did not sufficiently monitor and enforce third-party access or use of that data.



Facebook users may be eligible for a cash payment due to a class action settlement.

If you were a Facebook user between May 2007 and December 2002, you could be eligible for a pice of the $725 million settlement.

According to the settlement website, the only way to receive a cash payment from this settlement is by submitting a timely and properly completed Claim Form that obtains approval from the Settlement Administrator. The Claim Form must be submitted no later than August 25, 2023.

You have the option to opt-out of the settlement, or object to the settlement by July 26th, 2023.
