Arch Manning Recruitment Still Wide Open as Programs Compete For His Commitment

All eyes in the college football recruiting world have turned to the 2023 class with the prized possession being 5-star quarterback out of Louisiana, Arch Manning. The 6-foot-4 prospect is the nephew of former SEC greats Peyton and Eli Manning and is considered the No. 1 prospect in the 2023 class.

Reports from earlier in the week suggested that Manning and his family had already narrowed the schools he's considering to just two, Texas and Alabama. Brent Beaird of First Coast News joined Offsides with Marc Ryan and suggested only the Longhorns and Crimson Tide were left in play for the stellar prospect's signature.

However, reports from Steve Wiltfong of 247sports suggest that not only has Manning not cut his list to a final two options, but is instead considering up to six schools for his services.

Wiltfong reports Alabama, Texas, Ole Miss and Georgia are all in play with LSU and Florida also making a strong push for the quarterback's commitment.

The Texas Longhorns recently hired David Cutcliffe as an offensive analyst, a move most see as motivated by the Manning recruitment. Cutcliffe coached both Peyton and Eli Manning at Tennessee and Ole Miss respectively.

The Crimson Tide has had an absurd run of quarterback play recently. Alabama has had its last two starting quarterbacks drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft and currently boasts the reigning Heisman Trophy winner in Bryce Young.

While the Tide and Longhorns appear to be the two leaders in the Manning clubhouse, it's still too early to eliminate the other programs in contention.

The Manning family is the first family of the quarterback position and therefore will continue to weigh Arch's options and ensure he ends up in the best position to maximize his future in football.
