Over the weekend, I was doing some shopping with the family and the total for groceries felt higher than usual.

As we walked around the store, I could see that the cart was a little bit more full than usual.

So I'm thinking you know, as we get to the register, it's gonna be a little more than the usual total, and it turns out, it was a lot more!

Matter of fact hundreds of dollars more than we usually spend.

The confusing thing was that we got everything we needed. We weren't just tossing random things in the basket, we had a list and we stuck to it as always. So it made me think, what was the cost of living compared to other states currently?

After doing some research, I found that food costs in Alabama are a little more than I thought they'd be.

According to 24/7 Wall Street, in Alabama, a single adult spends an average of $3,210 on food annually. A family of four spends almost $10,000 on average.

I thought that was so much money. My wife and I started talking about it until I actually calculated it.

So a family of four spends $9,271 on average, annually in Alabama. If you break that down, it only comes up to about $208 a week. Let's just say that my last shopping trip with my family of four was well over $208.

Everybody's been talking about inflation and how everything's gone up. Is food one of those things that had just gone up and never went back down.

I remember when chicken wings went up. I don't think they've quite gone down at all.
