A man was seriously injured after he was shot in the chest early Saturday morning outside Tuscaloosa's Club 205 Lounge on Greensboro Avenue.

Kip Hart, the assistant commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to the club just after midnight Saturday morning to investigate a shooting, but no victim was there. A short time later, though, a 31-year-old man was admitted to DCH Northport with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Hart said witnesses reported that there was some kind of disturbance inside the club, and the victim was escorted outside, where another argument broke out. It was during this second altercation that shots were fired and the man was wounded.

Hart said the victim has been taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for additional treatment. The investigation is still in progress as police interview witnesses and process the scene. No arrests have been made to this point.
