The “Me Time Book Club” is hosting “Behind the Ink,” a free event. It all takes place on Saturday, April 10, 2021, located at the Birthright Auditorium on the campus of Stillman College from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. The “Behind the Ink” event is an author book signing event featuring local and best-selling authors. They will also have vendors and a children’s corner. The organizer reminded me that “All CDC guidelines will be honored, and masks are required.”

Their goal for the book club is to promote literacy within the community. Also, they want to “inspire reading and the discussion of literary works.” The “Me Time Book Club” was established in 2011, and they have chapters in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham.

I love book clubs. You get the opportunity to meet new people, make friends, be exposed to new authors, and entertain great discussions. The Stratford Writers Festival offers us six reasons why we should join a book club:

Reading is good for your brain.

Book clubs are sociable and prompt discussion with old or new friends.

Reading things you might not have otherwise can expand your horizons.

Book clubs offer a way to reflect on our society today.

Books and wine go well together.

Book clubs are fun!
