Brian Burns Says “Happy Hunting” On Mac Jones After Dirty Play

Former Alabama and current New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has come under fire this past week for a questionable play that left an opponent injured. Jones was sacked while playing against the Carolina Panthers this past weekend when he lost the football. He subsequently grabbed hold of defensive end Brian Burns' leg, twisted his ankle and took him to the ground.

Burns left the game for a time but returned to action after receiving treatment, however he was unable to finish the game and was hindered by the ankle injury.

In his media availability this past week Burns addressed the play on Sunday and said an apology from the rookie would be nice.

"It would be nice to have an apology, Mac. It would be nice to have an apology but, I mean, it's not going to happen. However the NFL handles it is on them. I would just like to play them again. I wish all my fellow D-end brothers happy hunting, that's all," said Burns.

Happy hunting. Ominous words from the third year defensive end out of Florida State. Burns has tallied 22.5 sacks and 5 forced fumbles during his short time in the league, however the way NFL schedules are structured he will have to wait until the 2025 season to play against Jones again, unless either player changes teams or the two sides meet in the Super Bowl.

Jones was asked if he would apologize for the questionable play on Sunday and in true Bill Belichick fashion, he brushed off the question.
