There is a grant assistance program that covers tuition costs for 2-year colleges and certifications and more.
"Our services include grant assistance to those in low-income homes to obtain training in high job demand and high wage career fields," said Jasmyne Baylor-Hall, M.A. , Employment Service Supervisor with the Tuscaloosa Area Career Center.
"These grants can cover tuition costs for 2-year colleges/ certifications, licensures, and salaries for those participants training on the job."
There are plenty of options with the Tuscaloosa Area Career Center even if students decide not to go to college after graduation.
" If you are not eligible for our training programs we offer other services for workforce development, which includes but not limited to: resume assistance, assessments to locate employment strengths and weaknesses, creating employment plans, and job shop workshops."
Baylor-Hall wants to make sure students know their option upon graduation and are made aware of all of their options.
"It is so important that our youth in THIS community know of all the opportunities that will further their education and help them obtain marketable work experience."
If you're interested in learning more about these programs you can visit Alabamaworks.Alabama.Gov , or by visiting the Tuscaloosa Area Career Center office at 202 Skyland DR, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405 , 7:45am- 4:30pm No appointment Needed.
